This is the coffee shop at the junction of Jalan Imbi and Jalan Barat.  Every morning, you will see a big crowd enjoying the local hawker food in this coffee shop (both local and Singapore tourists).

This is the first stall before you turn into the food alley (it is next to the Rong Ji  龙記barbecue pork).

The fire is so strong that only with this level of fire you can have the wok hei.

The Hokkien Mee is very oily as the amount of lard added to the noodles is no joke.  No hawker in Singapore dare to do it as you will definitely get a summon from HSA or NEA, haha.  Every mouth of noodles comes with big churn of lar po.  I supposed that makes the difference between KL Hokkien mee and Singapore char kway tiow.  (KL 1 : Spore 0 – in terms of amount of lar po).

The balanchan chili is very good to go with the Hokkien Mee.

The fried loh shi fun is very good too.  The texture of the LSF is very smooth.  With the lard and the la por and the wok hei, it is another die die must try dish (watch your heart though !)

Remember to asked for the price first as 6 of us with 3 plates of noodles the uncle (look like 2nd hand car saleman) charged us RM80.  I am sure if we would to speak with KL accent (联邦华語), it will only cost RM50.

This is one of the best Xio Bak you can get in Spore/Msia.    The stall open at 12.30 sharp.  By the time, you can already see a long queue of customers waiting patiently for their food to be served. Actually I am quite amazing the KL people are very patient when it comes about waiting for food as compared with WE Singaporean.  Good food of course have to wait, right!

The shifu will cut away the lean part leaving only the first 3/4 of the meat – which I believe is the best part (of course the most sinful) of the xio bak.  I wonder what will they be doing with the cast away lean part ?!?

 

1 Kg = RM96.  Not cheap, nut really worth the money, time waiting, and the trip to the coffee shop.

This is the best ang pang yong tau foo you can get in KL.  There is another stall next to Foong Foong but the you can always see a big crowd at Foong Foong.

There are no noodles or rice to go with the YTF.  Your ordered by number of pieces for dried or normal soup style.  Dried version basically are fried sui kow and fried bean curd skin.  Both are extremely good with excellent filling.

The soup version (not a lot of soup) comes with tau foo, egg plant, lady finger, bitter gourd, fishball and chilli stuffed with fish paste.  The tau foo is very good, smooth texture.

Avoid going during lunch time.  Very crowded.

You can ask for lean part of the fatty belly pork.  Certainly the later taste better but of course you need to burn more calories after the meal 🙂

None of the Singapore char siew stall can match this KL stall.

2 stripes cost about RM29.  Not particular cheap comparing to Singapore char siew, but certainly worth it.

The owner uncle is very friendly and very patient attending to your requests.
