Meepok @ Teck Ghee (Ang Mo Kio)

Mei Shen Kway Tiow Noodles

@ Ang mo kio avenue 10, Blk 409 Teck Ghee Square (hawker centre).

The stall is owned by a middle aged couple.  The specialties of this noodle stall is their home made chilli.  Normally I will ask for more chilli to add to the meepok.  Just try $2.50 order would be good enough as it offers big portion of noodles.  $3 will be too much to mix the mee and the chilli/oil well.

The fishball and fishcake are supplied by the factory and is nothing to shout about.

Overall, if you are craving for Meepok with very dry version with good dried chilli type, you can try this stall.

Ah Hor MeePok at Sam Leong Road

Ah Hor Teochew Noodles

This mee pok stall is another traditional teochew style with very good home-made chilli using dried chilli and probably mixed with teepo (dried fish), dried shrimp, candle nut.  IMO,One of the best mee poks you could get in Singapore.

I remembered the stall was started by an old uncle who loves to wear long sleeve flowery shirts.  I started eating this mee pok stall when they owned a coffee shop at Kitchener Road but has since moved to this coffee shop.  Old uncle no longer comes to the stall and is now managed by some others where the standard remains very high.

Side dish is fried fish cake.  One piece is $3 (you can ask for half).  Dip with the home made chilli – siok !

The mee pok comes with generous teepo and the her giao (fish dumpling) is very good too.  However, the fishball is not fantastice.

MeePok at Sin Ming Road

Cheng Heng Teowchew Fishball Noodles

IMG_2518

This mee pok stall is located at 22 Sing Ming Road HDB Coffee Shop which also has a few other famous stalls in (Ah Or Cze Char, Rong Cheng Bah Ku Teh, Braised Duck Rice and Char Siew Rice).

The old man cooking the mee pok is a teowchew uncle and his meepok is very 古草味, authentic teochew style.

The meepok comes with very good mixture of home-made chilly, lard and vinegar. Texture of the meepok is very good as this required some Kungfu (skill) from the old uncle. The fishball and fish cake, however, are so so as I believe it is from factory supply and not home-made.
